Sukh Niwas Mahal Bundi- The Place where Rudyard Kipling Stayed

Every site I visited in Bundi, I found how glorious the city would have been in the past. From forts to cenotaphs and lakes, this place must have enjoyed a splendid time. Bundi may not be a hot tourist spot, but it’s a perfect destination for offbeat travelling. If you are around Delhi and looking for a weekend destination, solo or with others, you may wanna consider Bundi as your place. Two days are enough to explore this lesser-known travellers’ paradise. Though I only spent one day in this city and visited as many places as possible in one day; my second last site was Sukh Niwas Mahal Bundi. Jait Sagar Lake (View from Sukh Niwas Palace Bundi) The city is stuffed with lots of historical places including 84 Pillared Cenotaphs, Raniji ki Baori, Taragarh, etc. which make Bundi ...

Architectural Marvellous of Raniji Ki Baori Bundi – The Queen’s Stepwell

I am much fascinated towards the ancient architecture and the kind of monuments people back then have built. Be it for living, amusement or even for combating any unseen danger or situation, these monuments are a fine example of how those people thought and created masterpieces out of bricks and stones. One of such architectural marvel that I visited in November last year was Raniji Ki Baori Bundi. The queen’s stepwell is among the most noteworthy step-wells due to its architecture, design and decoration. The Queen’s Stepwell Stepwells are an integral part of Indian history and architecture plan. Mainly constructed to deal with the water shortage situation, these stepwells were water reservoirs built by kings or other rich men for charity purposes and you will find several of th...

Taragarh Fort Bundi – One of the Oldest Forts of Rajasthan

Rajasthan had been a land of rajas (kings) and forts. The state has some of the most marvellous forts artistically and architecturally. While the land was mostly ruled over by Rajput kings, Mughals also reached here and formed these establishments. But a major part still belongs to the native rulers. My immense love for history and archaeology has taken me to various places which hold great cultural significance. I heard about Bundi’s Taragarh Fort almost four years back and then it was just a thought. Never knew that this fort had such a great importance in Indian history. Taragarh Fort Bundi is not only one of the oldest forts in Rajasthan but is also an artistic and architectural masterpiece. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1BPVdICfwA The fort has been constructed in parts on ...

One Day Itinerary of Kota – Places to See in Kota in One Day

Rajasthan has been blessed with amazing cities which have their very own charm. Whether it is Jaipur known for its magnificent forts or Jaisalmer for the desert camping, there is a lot to explore in this culturally rich state. One of the cities which stand apart when it comes to weekend trips to Rajasthan (2 Days, i.e. Saturday and Sunday); Kota never fails to impress any traveller with its topography and hidden places to visit. I am preparing a one day itinerary of Kota based on my personal experience which I had during my visit to Kota in November month of last year.  During my one day trip to Kota, I explored three places which make this city unique and interesting. Though there are many more places to visit in Kota and the list doesn’t just limit itself to these three places ...

World’s Wonders at One Place – Visiting Seven Wonders Park Kota

Kota was never this brilliant and only a place of academic institutions for me (which I had already told in my previous posts). However, when I decided a trip to Garadia Mahadev, many more places were added to my list and I spent two days there. While one evening, I was strolling around the streets and markets, I came across Seven Wonders Park in Kota, located adjacent to a lake. Travelling like this randomly really creates amazing memories and I enjoy doing so. I come across several astonishing places which I had never checked out even online. Kota's 7 Wonders Park caught my attention when I passed by. A new addition for the city’s tourism and entertainment, Seven Wonders Park is a must-visit place in Kota whenever you are around. When I was on my weekend journey to Kota, I visited Garad...

Garadia Mahadev Temple – Chambal River Grand Canyon

I arrived at Kota to visit Garadia Mahadev Temple and I had booked a cab to this mesmerizing place. But while I was on the way to Garadiya, the driver told me that there was one more place which almost looked like Garadia Mahadev Temple, which made me interested and we first reached there. I must have spent more than an hour and then we headed to Garadia Mahadev Temple. Garadia Mahadev is quite a famous place to visit in Kota. There are no direct buses so you need to book a cab or auto, better to do a cab. Well, I had a fantasy of visiting Garadia Mahadev Temple. And I had seen enough of it in Rajasthan tourism ads and online and even I had heard about it from my friends. This all had tempted me enough to come here and spend some moments of solitude in the serenity of this place wh...

Gaipernath Waterfalls Kota

For me, Kota was only a place of medical and engineering coaching classes. Well, that was back when I was in school. But when the travel-bug poisoned me, the most iconic place to visit in Kota I heard was GaradiyaMahadev Mandir which is a natural gorge located in the middle of a forest reserve. And I had reached Kota only to visit GaradiyaMahadev and I was not aware if there was any place by the name Gaipernath Mandir in Kota. When I booked Ola till GaradiyaMahadev, the driver told me that I should also visit Gaipernath waterfalls and that’s how I got to know about this hidden gem of nature. In the middle of water streams and gorges – Gaipernath Waterfalls Kota  I did an overnight journey to Kota from IFFCO Chauk Gurgaon. After reaching the Oyo hotel where I had booked a ro...

Shangchul Mahadev Mandir – Story of Wooden Temple in Shangarh

The little, sleepy village of Shangarh seemed pretty happy to me when I saw the people who greeted me with a smile. When I reached Shangarh, I realized I had come to quite a different place, away from the chaos and carbon which I usually see while living in Delhi. One good thing that I noticed in Shangarh was that the beauty of this place was pure and innocent. Two things attracted me most when I roamed around in the village. One was the groovy ground that resembled a golf course and the other was an impressive wooden temple that was easily visible from some distance. People of Shangarh pray to their local deity and thus Shangchul Mahadev Temple came into existence. Based at an altitude of around 6300 feet, this temple is an iconic place that you shouldn’t miss out when you visit Shanga...
