Staycation at Garden Chalet Tree House Nashala

February had started to walk away, and March was almost ‘marching.’ One day, realizing this, I thought of giving February beautiful memories. And that’s how I treasured some of the sweetest memories of 2022 in February when I decided on a staycation at Tree House in Nashala.

I quickly opened Booking.com and searched for places I could stay for a week in Himachal Pradesh. Spending hours resulted in nothing. So, I installed Airbnb and looked for more places, places where I could just relax and work. This was the first time I was planning for a staycation, and I wanted a super chill and isolated place. Moreover, this was my first time using the Airbnb app. After spending nearly an hour, I narrowed down a couple of properties, and among them, I chose Garden Chalet.

A small cozy cabin, constructed half on the ground and half on the trees, caught my eyes, and I soon realized that this was the place I needed to be. I contacted the host, a German person living in HP for several years. After having a small discussion with him, I made the payment and reserved the dates.

Garden Chalet – A Tree House in Nashala Naggar

I had previously visited Naggar in August 2021. I trekked to Nashala from Naggar and visited the famous local Chamunda Devi Temple during my stay. The tree house is located hardly a kilometer away from the village; however, I didn’t walk up there. When I reached the tree house, only then I realized that last time I was so close to this place and I couldn’t see it. Anyways, I had booked this place from Monday to Friday since those were my office working days. I had asked for everything from the host, everything which could ensure my smooth stay and uninterrupted office work.

So, the tree house of Nashala is a small cabin made out of wood planks with a little bit of insulation. The ground floor has a fully functional kitchen with a gas stove, utensils, a small fridge, a small cabinet for storing veggies like onion, garlic, potato, etc., along with a table and two chairs. You have a water heater and sink to the other side. Next to it is your washroom. The washroom is a little small; however, it’s manageable.

A 6X3 bed with enough blankets and a room heater to keep you warm, and a foldable couch that the other person can use. There’s a table that can be used as the workstation—a ceiling lamp and a bedside lamp light up the room. You have enough power points for keeping your devices charged. There are two glass windows for views. The scenic views from the patio are something you can’t get tired of staring at. This is where your morning starts, sipping up your favorite coffee and enjoying the morning vibes of Himalayan mountains with mesmerizing melodies of the birds.

How I got my groceries every day at Tree House Nashala

So yeah, since I was staying there for almost a week and Garden Chalet Tree House of Nashala was located outside the village with no shops around, so how I was getting the groceries. Well, the host, Klaus, had assigned an in charge, Vicky, a young boy who would come to me every evening. I would send him a list of the items in the evening on Whatsapp, and the following day, he would get me the things.

He was a great help during my stay and ensured that I had the best time of my life. And that was one of the best things about my stay at Garden Chalet tree house in Nashala, that I didn’t have to go to the market every day to get the essentials. Since I had office work every day, it was a wonderful experience. I would wake up in the morning to take a stroll around the area and sit for some time in nature.

When I shifted to the Penthouse

So on Thursday, I asked Klaus if I could check his other properties since I would be checking out on Saturday. He had multiple properties listed on Airbnb. Vicky told me that the property which I wanted to check was already booked for six months. However, the penthouse, which was just next to the garden chalet, was available. So, that building had three floors. The ground floor is the manufacturing area. Yes, it was Woody’s Health Food Himalaya. There is a shop also. The upper floor is Klaus’s personal space, and the top floor is the penthouse.

Vicky showed me the penthouse, and I just loved it. Thus, I shifted to it. This one was a proper place. It had a large bedroom cum lounge area which had a large bed, and a large-sized almirah which had lots of storage space. The almirah separated the kitchen and the bedroom. It had four windows and a balcony area. The fully functional kitchen had everything. This was a family establishment where a group of two or three or a similar family could stay.

While I was working, it started to snow. And that was my first time witnessing snow. However, it wasn’t dry and thick, but it was enough for me. I hadn’t witnessed snowfall in my life. I came here with many expectations, and one of them was snowfall. All those expectations were fulfilled here. Everything turned white. Trees, mountains, homes, grasses, everything… It was a rare sighting for me.

How to reach and total expense of Garden Chalet Naggar?

So you have to get down at Patlikuhl. From there you need to either take a bus to Naggar or you can book a cab or auto rickshaw. From Naggar, you need to again take a cab (from Rs 200 to Rs 250) to Woody’s Healthfood Himalaya. Ensure that you have to go to Nashala, not Larankelo. When you Google Woody’s Health Food, it will show Larankelo. So, tell the driver (Om Prakash – 8580633935) that you have to go to Woody’s Health Food.

I booked the property from AirBnb at Rs 780 per night. Rest depends on you, including your daily groceries and what you eat. My daily expenses were nothing more than Rs 200 or something. Garden Chalet tree house in Nashala is a budget friendly accommodation where you can stay for some time. You can directly contact the host if you plan for a longer stay.
