Life’s a journey and it never stops. I don’t know the definition of destination in life’s context. We keep moving from places to places. And that’s life. So, this year I made my journey to Amritsar in January month. The destination was defined at least two days there. After reaching Amritsar at noon, I had to deal with a great deal of struggle at the bus stand. I booked Ola and the driver couldn’t find my location. And then those local taxi drivers pissed off. Uff! It’s a challenge to deal with them sometimes. They won’t leave you. My room was already booked in Radisson Blu Amritsar.
“Kahan chalna hae?” (where do you have to go?)
“Badhiya hotel dikha dunga!” (I will get you a good hotel)
And after great struggle, the cab driver was able to find me.
From bus stand to Radisson Blu Amritsar
I had no idea where Radisson Blu Amritsar was located. The cab left the main city and came out. It took around half an hour and I reached my destination. This place was amazing. So wonderful! From the moment I got checked in and till checking out, I was mesmerized by the ambiance. I had on change when the cab driver asked me for change. The hotel staff person who opened the door of the cab for me, asked me to get the change from the front desk. And it took around twenty minutes and I got the change. The driver was still waiting for me outside. I gave him the change and did the rest of the documentation. I was given the key and I moved to my room. I was kind of tired from the journey and I crashed in the bed. Traveling this long really made me exhausted.
I hadn’t had shower since morning, so I went to the washroom and had shower. That was energizing. By the time, I started to get dark. So Radisson Blu Amritsar is located near to Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport in Amritsar. The hotel has on-site dining restaurants. It also has a fitness center and an outdoor pool. The hotel also offers a shuttle service at Golden Temple which is around 12KM away from the hotel. (Check with the hotel). I had planned for Golden Temple and then Wagah Border in the evening the next day.
Hotel Radisson Blu Amritsar has 186 rooms and every room is equipped with flat TV, a minibar, coffee maker, en suite washroom with shower and toiletries. All the rooms have a full-sized window which gives a beautiful view of outside. There is round the clock front desk help. I stayed at Hyatt Regency Ludhiana and I found this one cozier. The room is spacious and the ambiance is mesmerizing. I got dark and I moved out for some quick bite.
So, there is a restaurant near to Radisson Blu Amritsar, Bon Adda. It’s at walking distance from the hotel where I visited. The interior is actually interesting, with a retro look. And I had a meal of the day here. I ordered honey chili potato and a medium-sized veg barbecue pizza which was actually enough for me. Decorated in a way to give it a retro vibe, I found this place way nicer than some of the places I have visited in Delhi.
So, after the dinner and some photography, I headed back to Radisson Blu Amritsar. It was night and colder considering January month. However I was in a single T-shirt as usual and the air was bitterly cold. After reaching to my place, I jumped into the bed and wrapped up myself with that cozy rajai, turned the TV on, and watched the movie Kick.
So, I woke up at 8 in the morning the next day. And I was planned to go the Golden Temple. But sometimes, life gives you surprises and mine was waiting for me also. The moment I looked outside from the window, I was like ‘no way’. It was raining and my day was ruined. I took shower and decided to go there anyhow. So, at 10 I came down for breakfast. There is a restaurant near the reception where the breakfast was served. So I headed there and found a chair and a table for me. I don’t even remember how many dishes there were! But it was breakfast and I preferred Punjabi breakfast aloo naan with chholey and aloo, paneer paratha, and some South India idli. I also tried some desserts and juice in the end.
From Radisson Blu Hotel to Golden Temple
After finishing breakfast I headed to my room and packed everything. It was time to leave and the rain had slowed down. I came down, checked out, and booked the cab. That was the second time I booked a cab online and this time too I had to deal with a struggle with the booking. The driver came very late. And at the corner of the hotel, some other guy got in and he drove while the other guy got down. So, I had booked the cab to Golden Temple from Radisson Blu Amritsar where I was staying. And in around half an hour, the cab reached the destination.
